Welcome to the 2026/27 School Year!

Dear Peterson Families,

Welcome to a new school year! I am so excited and honored to begin this journey with you as the new principal of our school community.

As we start the year together, one of my biggest priorities is getting to know our students, families, staff, and the wonderful community that makes our school so special. I know that having a new principal can bring both excitement and questions, and I want you to know that I am here to listen, learn, support, and provide consistency for our students and families.

I truly believe that a strong school community is built through relationships and partnership. You know your children best, and your voice and involvement are an important part of their success. I look forward to working alongside you to make sure our students feel safe, supported, welcomed, and excited to come to school each day.

As your principal, you can expect me to be present, approachable, and committed to doing what is best for our students. I look forward to meeting you at drop-off and pick-up, seeing you at school events, celebrating our students together, and building relationships throughout the year. There will be many opportunities ahead for us to learn from one another, celebrate together, and continue building a school community where every child can thrive.

I am grateful for the opportunity to join this community and look forward to all that we will accomplish together. Here’s to a wonderful school year filled with learning, connection, growth, and plenty of reasons to celebrate!

With excitement,
Ms. Angeles
Principal

District Updates

Student Wellness Investment Program

On August 26, you will receive a ParentSquare message titled "Supporting Student Wellness: Important Information for HBCSD Families." Please take a moment to complete the Parent Consent Form included in that message. HBCSD is implementing the Student Wellness Investment Program (also known as the Children and Youth Behavioral Health Initiative, or CYBHI), a State of California initiative that allows our district to access funding for wellness services we already provide, such as counseling, social-emotional learning, and mental health support.

Submitting your child's health insurance or Medi-Cal information is how we access that funding, at no cost to your family and with no impact to your coverage. There are no copays, no deductibles, and your information is fully protected under FERPA and HIPAA. Your participation helps ensure we can continue growing these supports for all of our students. Thank you for your support.
