The Huntington Beach City School District (HBCSD) is proud to recognize three outstanding team members as our January Shoreline Standouts: Megan Tossey and Lindsay Araya from Moffett Elementary School, and Jenn Lambert from our Facilities team. Together, these honorees reflect the heart of HBCSD: dedication to students, service to others, and a commitment to excellence that strengthens our schools and departments every day.
Each month, the Shoreline Standouts program celebrates employees who positively influence their communities, exemplify the HBCSD Learner Profile traits, and bring our District’s focus areas to life through their work. This month’s recipients shine through their student-centered practices, collaborative spirit, and steady professionalism.

At Moffett Elementary, Ms. Megan Tossey is known for the meaningful relationships she builds and the inclusive, supportive learning environment she creates for every student she serves. Her student-centered approach, attention to detail, and belief in her students allow each child to feel seen, valued, and capable of success.
Megan’s impact extends beyond her classroom. Previously, she was also named a Top Teacher Finalist by Parenting OC Magazine, a recognition that celebrates educators who go above and beyond, innovate, and inspire students and colleagues alike. Nominated by members of the school community, this honor reflects the deep trust and admiration families and peers have for her work.
Known for her flexibility, creative problem-solving, and persistence, Megan never gives up on her students. In special education, where strong family partnerships are essential, she goes the extra mile, attending extracurricular activities, supporting students beyond the school day, and fostering trust with families through genuine care and commitment. Her work embodies HBCSD’s focus on Supportive School Environments, Academic Achievement, and Engaged Community.

As Moffett Elementary’s Library Media Technician, Lindsay Arraya plays a vital role in fostering a love of reading, learning, and curiosity among students. Through her daily work in the library, Lindsay helps create a welcoming, organized, and engaging space where students feel encouraged to explore books, build research skills, and develop lifelong learning habits.
Lindsay’s connection to Moffett runs deep. In addition to serving the school professionally, she is a longtime member of the Moffett community whose own children attended the school, giving her a unique perspective and a strong sense of pride in supporting the campus. This personal connection is reflected in the care, consistency, and commitment she brings to her role each day.
Nominators shared that Lindsay is dependable, patient, and always willing to support students and staff with a positive attitude. Whether assisting classes in the library, helping students find the perfect book, or supporting teachers behind the scenes, Lindsay’s contributions help strengthen Moffett’s supportive school environment and sense of community.

Behind the scenes of day-to-day operations across HBCSD, Jenn Lambert is a steady and dependable force who helps keep our schools and departments running efficiently. As a Maintenance & Operations Program Technician, Jenn’s role requires accuracy, responsiveness, and follow-through, and she consistently delivers on all three.
Jenn approaches every task with care and attention to detail, ensuring work orders are routed correctly, timelines are tracked, and questions are answered clearly. Her professionalism and outstanding customer service help staff feel supported and confident, even when navigating complex or time-sensitive requests.
Just as importantly, Jenn strengthens our District culture through collaboration, clear communication, and a solutions-focused mindset. She adapts quickly to changing needs, is endlessly reliable, and is always willing to step in and support others. Jenn’s dedication and consistency make a meaningful impact across HBCSD every single day, truly exemplifying Purpose in Action.
