Thank you to everyone in the Peterson community for helping us get the 2025-2026 off to a great start!

Make sure our Back-to-School Night event is on your calendar! We have a slightly modified schedule from other elementary schools due to our TK program. Our TK classrooms will host parents from 5:00-5:30 in your child's classroom. At 6:00p.m. everyone on campus will gather in our M.P.R. for brief introductions of staff and PTA. Teachers will present two identical sessions, one beginning at 6:15 and one at 6:45. This is a 'parents-only' event. Please keep in mind that this evening event is not for student conferences; however, we are happy to schedule one with you if necessary.

Please note the following updates regarding events listed in the sections below that are happening at Peterson and throughout HBCSD this week.

This is a reminder that we are a closed campus any time students are on campus, daily from 8:30-3:15p.m. This means that parents/guardians are allowed to walk their students to their designated entry gate. Any students arriving past 8:45 must enter through the front office and obtain a tardy pass prior to going to class.

We strongly encourage families to walk their students to school, if possible, especially for our TK & K families.

There is only one way for automotive traffic to enter and one way to exit the Peterson parking lot and loading/unloading lane. All auto traffic must utilize the main parking lot entry off of Farnsworth & Reilly Drive. Pull all the way through the first parking lot, stay to the right. The right lane is for immediate loading and unloading. The left lane is strictly for ‘thru’ traffic. Students should only be dropped off or picked up directly adjacent to the yellow cone zone along Gates 5 & 7. Please pull as far forward as possible and follow any directions given by staff members & volunteers. When exiting the Peterson parking lot, please only turn right during school hours.

During minimum-day schedules, our parking lots are especially impacted. Please do not enter the loading lane unless it is during your students’ dismissal time as you will be asked to pull forward, exit, and to re-enter at the appropriate release bell.

Students who are not picked up within ten-minutes of their release bell will be taken to the office where parents will be required to sign them out.

We thank you in advance for your understanding and cooperation in ensuring every single one of our Dolphins comes to and from school daily in a safe manner.

'Perfect Attendance' is earned when students attend class every day and have no late arrivals nor early-outs. Students earning this recognition will receive limited edition backpack tags. The upper grade (3/4/5) and lower grade (TK/K/1/2) will receive a special treat and will be announced in the morning announcements.

In order to maximize student learning and avoid classroom interruptions, please be sure that your child arrives on time. Students who arrive after 8:45a.m. enter through the front office to obtain a tardy pass prior to entering their classroom.

Peterson is committed to providing ongoing information and updates via ParentSquare and our school website. Please ensure the email addresses you have entered in your Aeries portal are accurate and updated as needed. All primary mass communication from Peterson is sent via ParentSquare. We encourage all of our families to download the ParentSquare app and enable push notifications to ensure you receive all communication in a timely manner. Each week, you will receive a weekly newsletter from the principal on Sundays at 5:00p.m. as well as a separate weekly update from your child's teacher. Additionally, the Peterson PTA sends our newsletters and updates as needed for all PTA sponsored events on campus. Please continue to check your emails regularly to ensure you are receiving all Peterson communications.

School breakfast and lunch will be offered free of charge throughout the 2025-2026 school year.

At Peterson, we pride ourselves on our strong sense of community and we love campus and classroom volunteers!

Parent & community volunteers are welcome to support our various classroom activities with proof of a negative TB test, Raptor clearance, and a signed Peterson Volunteer Agreement. All campus visitors must enter and exit through the main office.

Please contact the Peterson office with any questions regarding this requirement or to check the date/status of TB results you may have on file from last year.

If your student requires medication while on campus, we must have their prescription(s) with their doctor's orders on file in the Health office. Students are not allowed to 'self-carry' medications. Please drop off any medications with the appropriate paperwork/orders anytime during regular office hours between 8:30-3:30 daily.

We are still accepting registrations for the 2025-2026 school year for all new and incoming students. Additionally, Peterson is the designated ‘overflow’ school for TK students throughout our district boundaries. Please contact our office for additional information regarding enrollment.
